To get information about North Carolina senators and members of the House of Representatives, go to the North Carolina General Assembly Web site: North Carolina General Assembly Web site. At this Web site, some of the things you can do are:
When you go to the General Assembly's Web site, you can select House or Senate. Here you will find different lists of legislators-by county, alphabetically and by committee membership. If you click on a legislator's name, it will take you to information about that legislator. It includes personal information, such as how many terms served in North Carolina's General Assembly, office contact information, home contact information and profession. You can also find out which bills that legislator sponsored or co-sponsored.
At the General Assembly Web site, you can also select Help and be linked to a list of frequently asked questions and their answers about how legislation is created and passed.
Most local decisions regarding developmental disabilities services and supports are made by the county commissioners. County commissioners oversee much of the budget for the local area programs/local management entities.
To find out who your county commissioners are, you can go to the Web site of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. There is a map with each county labeled. For most counties, you can click on the county on the map and it will link you to that county's Web site. You can also e-mail the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners at ncacc@ncacc.org.
To find out who your city or town leaders are, you can go the Web site for the North Carolina League of Municipalities. At this Web site, you can access a list of all the towns and cities in North Carolina and the name of the mayor and/or key official and their contact information.
