All people, including people with disabilities, need people.
All the services in the world cannot substitute for real relationships. First In Families believes that people with disabilities absolutely need relationships now for a good life, and for their future well-being, safety and security.
Everyone can relate to another human being, no matter how significant their disability or non-traditional their form of communication. Through relationships, each person has the opportunity to seek a life in which goals can be achieved and dreams become reality.
First In Families of North Carolina helps people make the connections that will make a good life possible. One way we do this is through our Lifetime Connections, which creates a bridge to the community through:
Andy Bingham, whose 44 year old daughter has a personal network starting up, says this about Lifetime Connections:
"Our daughter so desperately needs to face life with more optimism -- and more determination to maximize her potential. Thanks to you, we've now embarked upon an exciting path that holds out real promise of achieving these objectives."
Lifetime Connections offers unique supports and future planning services to people with all types of disabilities and their families. We provide an alternative or addition to traditional services, through a comprehensive, membership based set of services tailored to each individual or family.
