
First In Families of North Carolina, FIFNC, helps people with disabilities and their families to believe in their dreams, achieve their goals and give back to others.
FIFNC grassroots family support initiative founded by families looking for new ways to provide and receive support. FIFNC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, supported in part by funding from the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse services (MH/DD/SAS), Department of Health and Human Services. FIFNC was incorporated in 2001 and obtained its 501(c)3 status in 2003.
People with disabilities and/or their families are the experts regarding their own goals and dreams and are respected as such by everyone.
Organizational leadership includes people from across NC with diverse backgrounds, experiences and knowledge, including those with disabilities.
People with disabilities have the same rights, responsibilities and opportunities to contribute and participate as all other members of the community.
All people, including people with disabilities, depend on each other.
People with disabilities live in inclusive communities that are enhanced by collaborative relationships and leveraging of community resources.
Everyone, including people with disabilities and/or their families; has the ability and desire to make meaningful contributions to others.
